Golden Oldies return after Colombo tour

Originally appeared on gdnonline

Congratulations to Bahrain Rugby Football Club Golden Oldies who have just returned from a hugely successful tour of Colombo, Sri Lanka!

They set-out on a two-game series against local sides Zahira Old Boys, Rugby Association (ZOBRA) and the Puffins. Aside from the matches, the main aim of their tour was to provide support to some of the many young rugby enthusiasts of Colombo who do not have access to the same kind of resources and facilities as Bahrain RFC.

The team also carried with them an extensive collection of rugby kit and equipment, which was presented to school kids during a series of rugby workshops at the schools.

The Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union is actually one of the oldest governing bodies in the world, originally being founded as the Ceylon Rugby Football Union in 1908.

Well done Bahrain RFC on spreading the #GoldenOldies ethos and developing grass roots rugby around the world!
